The Golden Autumn in Pillerseetal: Hiking Through the Colorful Forest

Back to overview

When the leaves start to change colour, a special hiking season begins in the Pillerseetal. The air turns crisp, the trails become quieter and the forests between Fieberbrunn, Hochfilzen and St. Ulrich glow in shades of yellow, orange and red.

Simply walk instead of chasing summits
Autumn hiking doesn’t always have to take you high into the mountains. The forest trails around Fieberbrunn are particularly beautiful at this time of year. Leaves crunch beneath your hiking boots, sunlight filters through the trees and every now and then, the Kitzbühel Alps appear between the branches.

Weitental Trail – into the autumn forest
The Weitental Trail near Hochfilzen is a great choice for a relaxed autumn day. This easy circular hike covers around 6.5 kilometres and leads along peaceful forest paths – perfect for discovering the quieter side of the Pillerseetal.

Teufelsklamm Gorge – rocks, forest & water
For a wilder autumn setting, head to the Teufelsklamm Gorge near St. Ulrich am Pillersee. The short trail leads through the forest into the gorge, where rocks and rushing water create a completely different atmosphere. Good footwear and sure-footedness are especially important when leaves and paths are wet.

Autumn hiking means slowing down
This is the season to forget about counting kilometres. Take a walk through the forest, stop in the autumn sunshine or simply enjoy a few quiet moments among the colourful trees. Sometimes, a perfect hiking day doesn’t need a summit at all.

Our tip: Autumn weather and temperatures can change quickly. Dress in layers, start early and always check current trail conditions before setting off.
